Total Ground™ Carbon Conductive Paint, 12 oz Aerosol

Description

MG Chemicals 838AR-340G Total Ground™ Carbon Conductive Paint, 12 oz Aerosol

MG Chemicals 838AR-340G is a one-part, solvent-based acrylic lacquer pigmented with highly conductive carbon black. It delivers durable, abrasion-resistant coatings for low-frequency RFI/EMI shielding and grounding without the need for heat curing.

Tri-Tek Electronics is an authorized distributor of MG Chemicals products, ensuring full manufacturer warranty coverage, best pricing, and factory support.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Provides over 52 dB of RFI shielding at frequencies below 1 MHz

  • Excellent adhesion on most injection-molded plastics such as ABS, PVC, and polycarbonate

  • Strong corrosion resistance, suitable for marine and humid environments

  • HAP-free formulation (contains no toluene or xylene), with a mild solvent system safe on polystyrenes

  • Quick-drying acrylic lacquer requiring no heat cure

Specifications

  • Net volume: 442 mL (12 oz aerosol can)

  • Net weight: 340 g

  • Surface resistance (one coat): approximately 170 Ω/□ at 1 mil (≈ 25 µm) thickness

  • Temperature range: –40 °C to 120 °C

  • Recoat interval: minimum 3 minutes

  • Full cure: 24 hours

  • Shelf life: 3 years

  • RoHS compliant

Typical Installation & Usage Scenario

  1. Clean the substrate (for example, an ABS panel) with isopropyl alcohol to remove oils and contaminants.

  2. Shake the aerosol can vigorously for at least two minutes to ensure pigment dispersion.

  3. Hold the can 20–30 cm from the surface and apply light, even coats.

  4. Allow a minimum of three minutes between coats; build up thickness with successive passes.

  5. After the final coat, permit 24 hours for a full cure before handling or grounding connections.

This process yields a uniform conductive layer ideal for shielding electronics enclosures, grounding contact points on test fixtures, lining guitar pickup cavities, or reinforcing metal-detector housings without adding excessive weight.
